In the brochure published for the Foundation’s 40^th anniversary, its president Jean Bonna made the following remarks: ‘It requires tremendous energy and total commitment on the part of staff and members of the Board to organise the Foundation’s work and activities. Today we are celebrating our 40^th anniversary and I believe the mission we fulfil is essential. If our Foundation has not become a ‘cemetery’, as is so often the case, it is of course thanks to Martin Bodmer’s immense knowledge gleaned from of a lifetime of study and research. But it is also due to the unfailing commitment of our personnel over the last 40 years, and I would like to take this opportunity to convey my profound gratitude. ‘
