Founded in 1488 by Johannes Petri, Schwabe specializes in publishing works in the field of human and social sciences.

In 2006, the Martin Bodmer Foundation entered into a partnership with Schwabe for the publication of monographs and catalogues.

To date, three publications have been printed.
