The Islamic world and the Koranic revelations feature prominently in the collection. The Foundation houses a remarkable collection of Arab and Persian Korans written in Kufic and Naskh script as well as the scroll that belonged to Suleiman the Magnificent and the Sayings of Ali.

Persian poetry enjoys pride of place. There are magnificent calligraphy manuscripts on paper from Shiraz: Attar, Rumi, Hafez, Nizami, Djami, the epic poetry of Ferdowsi – the Persian Homer – and the Indian fables of the Kalila wa Dimna (Bidpay).
