The Elizabethan period, the Spanish Golden Age and the Grand Siècle in France have contributed an abundance of literary treasures. Shakespeare takes pride of place with his First Folio, the first edition of his Sonnets and the extremely rare in quarto editions of his main plays. Spanish literature is represented by Cervantes, Calderon, Lope de Vega, La Celestina and Lazarillo de Tormes. The highlight of the Louis XIV era is an invaluable collection of works by Molière. Also in the same section: Bossuet’s Sermons, Jean de La Fontaine’s Fables and the great Racine.
