Science, in all its forms, features prominently. The Collection traces the development of the understanding of astronomy from a closed world to an infinite universe: Ptolemy’s model of the universe, astrological signs, and major breakthroughs and turning points with works by Copernicus, Galileo, Tycho Brahe and Keppler.
On display are also other examples of great discoveries in the fields of medicine and the human body (Avicenna, Vesalius), zoology, botany and mineralogy, as well as world explorations.
Foremost is the first edition of Newton’s Principia Mathematica with annotations in the margins by his great rival Leibniz.
